I’m awaiting hurricane Irene here in Virginia. I’m preparing by gathering non-perishable snacks like Fritos and Triple Stacked Oreos. You have to have your priorities.
Watching people in Target yanking water off shelves as if they’ll never drink again, I am always amazed by the panic that ensues when we are overwhelmed. Without a storm, people make well-considered purchases. But as Irene approaches, they migrate immediately to hoarding.
I also hear people on their cell phones trying to contact loved ones to make sure they’re safe.
Pondering our storm behaviors, I’ve realized that hurricanes and corporate change are similar in three ways:
What can we do to help endure our storms?
Remember, storms and change are inevitable. The success factor is in how we handle them.
